What to expect
As Tactical Buyer you are responsible for executing tactical procurement activities, including supplier (relationship) management, contract management, to support and improve the company’s operational efficiency.
You will be part of the procurement team consisting of nine other professionals and you will be the right hand of the procurement manager. The team is responsible for the whole fleet of Anthony Veder with thirty ships operating worldwide. To give you an indication what will be the focus of this position, please see the core tasks and responsibilities below:
- Manage relationships with suppliers and monitor their performance and escalate issues as needed to maintain service levels and quality standards. Ensure compliance with contractual agreements, pricing schedules, and procurement policies.
- Conduct market research, supplier assessments, and competitive bidding processes to secure best-in-class vendors and achieve cost savings.
- Negotiate supplier contracts, conditions, terms, and service level agreements (SLAs) to obtain the best value for the company. Leverage volume discounts, supplier agreements, and alternative sourcing options to reduce costs and achieve savings targets.
- Develop and implement cost reduction strategies to optimize procurement spend while maintaining quality and service levels.
- Analyse pricing trends, evaluate total cost of ownership, and identify opportunities for process efficiencies and value engineering.
- Identify opportunities to streamline procurement processes, enhance efficiency, and improve operational effectiveness.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements, standardize workflows, and leverage technology solutions to automate manual tasks and reduce cycle times.
- Collaborate and foster relations with internal stakeholders, including operations, finance, and quality assurance teams, to understand business requirements and align procurement strategies with organizational goals.

What we are looking for
- A bachelor in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or similar.
- Roughly 4 years of experience as a tactical buyer (or similar, f.e. senior buyer, project buyer, contract engineer, etc)
- Demonstrable experience with project procurement (i.e. full scope EPCIC/CAPEX projects) in a heavy, high demand industry such as the maritime sector.
- Demonstrable experience with applying contract law (drafting and reviewing contracts)
- Ambition to grow (we would eventually want this person to grow into a strategic buyer role).
- Proactive mindset with the ability to identify problems, propose solutions, and drive continuous improvement, analytical skills and proficiency in data-driven decision-making.
- Negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Knowledge of procurement best practices, contract management, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
